    Project

The Huntington Theatre Company is a famous non-profit performing arts organization located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was established in 1982 and has since developed into one of the top regional theaters in the country, famous for the caliber of its performances and dedication to the creation of fresh works. Shakespeare and Ibsen’s classic plays as well as modern plays by authors like August Wilson and Tony Kushner have all been presented at The Huntington.

The Huntington is devoted to its goal of creating theater that speaks to the varied communities of Boston and the surrounding area as well as the human experience. In addition to its mainstage productions, the company also runs a number of initiatives aimed at inspiring and involving local audiences. These include its renowned education and outreach projects as well as a program for developing new plays that support upcoming playwrights and promote the creation of new works.

This facility is centrally placed and has been exquisitely restored to its previous magnificence from the 1920s. The theater is the ideal location for the thrilling productions of the Huntington, providing audiences with a wonderful theatrical experience. It features spacious stages, cutting-edge technological amenities, and comfortable seating. The Huntington Theatre Company is a must-visit location in Boston whether you’re a seasoned theatergoer or are only now learning about the impact of live performance.

We worked with the incredible team at Solotech on this installation project. They handled all of the project management, device configuration, and programming, and we handled all the physical installation of racks and gear.

This was a top-to-bottom building renovation, so it’s a whole new AV system. We were able to recycle and reuse a handful of speakers as fills that we arranged around the theatre. The headlining items are a Yamaha PM7 Rivage console with numerous 2nd-generation Rio interfaces, a d&b system with V-, A-, T-, and E-series loudspeakers with a DS100 DSP Processing Engine, 30D amplifiers, and DS10 interfaces, and a Blackmagic video distribution system with Panasonic cameras.

We also installed a ton of plates around the building (including in their new office and rehearsal spaces), as well as Q-Sys control infrastructure (touch panels, paging stations, etc.)

The most obvious items in these photos are the displays. All the lobbies (including ticketing and concessions) have displays, but the main focal point is the video wall in the main 1st floor lobby. There’s also a small AV plate visible on the woodworking below these displays.

You can see the A-series center array, the V-series boxes on the proscenium and hanging from the catwalk, the V-SUB in the alcove above the luxury box, the E-series boxes on the underside of the balcony, and various EAW UB22s (re-used from the old sound system) for surround speakers both upstairs and downstairs.
