d&b audiotechnik 18A-SUB Compact Subwoofer
The 18A-SUB is a compact, flyable subwoofer built for use with d&b audiotechnik xA-Series and xS-Series loudspeakers. A high-performance, 1,600W (peak) design with a maximum SPL of 132dB, the 18A-SUB cabinet houses a long-excursion, 18″ neodymium driver in a bass-reflex design. It can be used stand-alone, stacked, or as a base for a mixed ground stack. The 18A-SUB can also be combined with 10A and 10AL loudspeakers in vertical flown arrays. D&b audiotechnik 18A-SUB—Behind the Grille
The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grille backed by an acoustically transparent foam. The side panels have an integrated rigging system and the rear panel incorporates two Neutrik NL4 speakON connectors, as well as a two-pole screw terminal block. The loudspeaker cabinets and most accessories are also available with the Special Color (SC) option that can be executed in all RAL* colors, whilst the Weather Resistant (WR) option provides an IP55* rating and enables the operation of loudspeakers in changing ambient conditions.
*RAL is a color-matching system that defines standard colors for varnish, powder coating, and plastics. It’s the most popular Central European color standard used today.
**The IP Code or International Protection Rating, sometimes also interpreted as Ingress Protection Rating. IP55: Protected from limited dust ingress. Protected from low-pressure water jets from any direction.
18A-SUB rigging components
18A-SUB cabinets are connected to form a vertical array each using the Z5418 Connector plates xA-SUB. Up to four 18A-SUB cabinets can be connected. When integrated at the top of a 10A or 10AL array, up to two 18A-SUB cabinets can be combined with up to six 10A/10AL cabinets. Vertical arrays are supported using the Z5414 Flying bar xA and the Z5413 Flying bar connector plates xA.
The d&b amplifiers are designed specifically to power d&b loudspeakers, forming the heart of the d&b System. They incorporate digital signal processing for comprehensive loudspeaker management, switchable filter functions, remote capabilities, and user-definable controls to fulfill the exact needs of each application.
The d&b 30D amplifier is recommended to drive the 18A-SUB. The d&b D20, D80, 10D, and D6 can also be used.
