DPA 2028 Vocal Microphone

Built for life on the road

  • Durable mechanical construction
  • Reduces feedback issues
  • Uniform supercardioid directionality
  • Extreme SPL (Sound Pressure Level) handling
  • Easy to EQ

The 2028 Vocal Microphone is a mic created for the specific challenges of the live stage.

This one mic allows you to capture true sound and produce an unforgettable show. Effortlessly. The 2028 Vocal Microphone is designed for the unique challenges of live stage performances. It is a flexible handheld vocal condenser mic, which provides fantastic, transparent vocals to performers from a wide range of markets including live, HoW, broadcast, etc. Use it wired or together with your favorite wireless system, either way, just plug it in and hear the vocals shine like never before.

Durable mechanical construction

The 2028 is an extremely durable microphone. The grille is made of a black chrome finish, which is hard and rugged. In addition, it can be removed for ease of cleaning. The wired version of the 2028 has a handle made of zinc alloy with the same black chrome finish. Overall, the microphone is made with premium materials that can take a beating and will provide years of reliable use.

Reduces feedback issues

Unlike other supercardioid mics, the 2028 delivers strong attenuation from the rear- so that the monitors don’t cause any feedback issues. In addition to the fantastic performance at 180°, the mic also offers no pickup at the critical 140-150°, where there are most often stage monitors that can cause feedback in lesser mics.

Uniform supercardioid directionality

The 2028 has a supercardioid capsule with DPA’s famously flat off-axis response. Besides a high gain-before-feedback, this characteristic makes it easier for sound engineers to handle bleed from other instruments at close proximity. The 2028 picks up off-axis sounds in a very natural and attenuated way.

Extreme SPL handling

The 2028 has a dynamic range of 117 dB so the mic easily picks up the peaks – due to the fast transient response of the diaphragm. This makes it easier to place the mic in the mix. In fact, the 2028 can handle the extreme SPL of the most dynamic singer, but with its low self-noise, it also sounds great in the hands of softer singers as well.

Easy to EQ

On a live stage, the 2028 will deliver the same open and transparent sound that other DPA microphones deliver. In fact, it needs no (or very little) EQ to sound just like you are standing next to the singer listening to their performance. This allows the singer to use their voice just as if no mic was present, which puts less strain on them. In addition, it allows sound engineers to spend their time shaping the sound experience rather than covering up due to artifacts. This amazing transparency is unique for all DPA vocal condenser mics. Wired or wireless.
